Tenders for the sale or concession of infrastructure and real estate by TAIPED – The plans for Lavrio, Alexandroupoli, Patras and the development of a business park in the Municipality of Fylis

Three tenders for the sale or concession of infrastructure and real estate are currently being prepared by TAIPED in order to attract investors.

At the same time, the process of selling 50% plus one share of the Lavrio Port Authority is underway, with the deadline for expression of investment interest expiring on May 14.

The processes that are maturing for the disposal of real estate infrastructure concern the ports of Patras and Alexandroupolis as well as the area for the development of a business park (logistic center) in the Municipality of Fylis in Attica. The aforementioned assets were among those presented by TAIPED CEO Mr. Dimitris Politis during his participation in the business mission led by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to India. The Indians, due to the high growth rates of their economy, are looking for entry corridors for their goods in Europe, with the ports of Greece being prepared for exploitation not going unnoticed, according to information. In detail, the TAIPED infrastructure and real estate files are:

The port of Lavrio

At the beginning of last March, TAIPED opened the tender process for the sale of 50% plus one share of the Lavrio Port Authority. Its activities concern:

The provision of berthing services to commercial vessels transporting dry bulk, general cargo and containers, to coastal vessels (E/G and O/G-E/G), cruise ships as well as to tourist boats, fishing boats and pleasure boats, the provision of loading and unloading services , storage and transit of dry bulk and general cargo, containers and wheeled cargo, the provision of services to cruise and coastal shipping passengers and the granting of premises for the exercise of business activities, including the storage and storage of wind turbines.

In addition, the Company provides ancillary services to ships and boats (water supply, mining, waste collection and management, electricity) and exploits Port grounds and buildings for cultural and other activities. Finally, the company has the right to use and exploit the ports of Legrene and Vromopoussi, which are currently used for nautical purposes.

The port is located southeast of Attica, 60 km from the center of Athens and 25 km from Athens International Airport.

The Port of Alexandroupolis

The strategically important port of Alexandroupoli is the next port infrastructure that TAIPED is preparing for sale.

However, any tender procedures will depend on geopolitical developments and specifically on the war in Ukraine. After all, this was also the reason for the cancellation of the previous tender process.

Projects worth 24 million euros are underway at the Alexandroupolis Port Authority for the dredging of the sea zone of the port and the interconnection of its commercial section with the under construction highway in Alexandroupolis. The projects are financed by the Recovery Fund.

The port is in an advantageous geostrategic position. Geographically, it neighbors Turkey and Bulgaria, while it is the end of the Pan-European Corridor IX, the freight corridor, which starts from Helsinki and ends in Alexandroupoli. It is also connected to Egnatia Odos and the railway line to Thessaloniki.

Tribe Business Park

The tender for the concession of the area of 450 acres to the Municipality of Fylis is expected soon, with the aim of creating a modern and “green” logistic center. The total investment is estimated to amount to 200-250 million euros, while it has been estimated that funds of 1 billion euros will be mobilized. The aim is to relocate to the new logistic center 400 forwarders from Eleonas who are now operating there in a semi-illegal regime. In fact, 21 million euros have been secured from the Recovery Fund, which will be given as an incentive for the companies to relocate, with 200 of them reportedly having already agreed on their relocation.

The business park, in accordance with the Urban Plan, is divided into two zones, with the first including “Productive activities of low and medium disturbance” while the second includes 15 tourist accommodations, which will serve the needs of transporters. The concession contract will be for 35 years and according to information there will likely initially be a one-off price from the concessionaire to the Tribe Municipality while there will also be an annual rent. The property in question is privileged in terms of proximity to the urban fabric (of Athens and Piraeus), with basic networks and the Thriasio EK. This is a project of great value for the basin and for the economy as a whole. Also, the relocation of the transporters will remove approximately 4,000 trucks per day from Kifissos, significantly relieving the Kifissos highway, reducing congestion and environmental impacts.

The Port of Patras

The Patras Port Organization is the next port that TAIPED is preparing for exploitation.

Without having determined the start of the competition, the Fund seeks to attract investors. It is mainly a commercial port, it serves passenger ships and cruise ships while it has infrastructure for seaplanes as well as a small marina. Among its trump cards is the ferry connection with Italy.

In August and September, the Organization’s master plan will be ready, which according to information will also have infrastructure for the storage of hydrocarbon research and exploitation equipment.
