Pain and grief… in the Greek Solution from the morning statements of the Archbishop of Athens and all Greece Hieronymos.

The parliamentary representative of the Hellenic Solution, Konstantinos Chitas, from the Plenary, said that “when they read this statement, they thought that Pavlos Marinakis had made it, but then they were surprised to find out that it is not the government representative who made this statement, but Archbishop Hieronymos”.

Mr. Chitas attributed to him that Archbishop Hieronymos assumed “the role of ND press representative, he adopts what ND trolls on the internet and paid sites report about the falsified statement of our president – who said “those who go for vote-hunting reasons to churches” and it was an admonition not to go if you want. This is beyond us and we are very sorry.”

“We are certain that such a statement would never have been made by blessed Christodoulos. He does it in the ND services and of Kyriakos Mitsotakis, archbishop Hieronymos, who takes on another role in the run-up to the elections. At least that’s how we perceive it and we are very sorry. With all due respect to the institution, it should also rise to the occasion. The archbishop does not need to be such an ardent supporter of Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the ND,” said Mr. Chitas.

The ND parliamentary representative, Thanos Pleurisaddressed the Hellenic Solution saying that the Archbishop said that “no political leader can say who will or will not go to the Church” and added that “the reports of Mr. Velopoulos yesterday in the Plenary were extremely provocative, he told us that after you voted so for same-sex marriage you can’t do it in the church.”

“No member of parliament, no matter what they have voted for, will not give an account to a party president or another party member of parliament about whether you are religious or not” and added “what are we hearing and Mr. Velopoulos will tell us if we are and how much are we or not christians? This should be taken back. Religion is an internal matter for everyone and whether and how they will externalize it.”

He called it “deplorable that those who voted against the bill traded their vote to get a few votes” and the Archbishop “today closed the matter, no one will tell us when, how and in what way we will be religious”.
