The increased problem at this time with the grasses that “suffocate” many parts of the city of Larissa, was mentioned by the mayor of Larissa, Mr. Thanasis Mamakos, from Ergatis Protomagia Square, where he was present to supervise the grass cutting process.
In fact, he emphasized that several municipal and private crews are working during this time in many parts of the municipality in the city and the villages, so the results will be seen immediately, asking for patience from the citizens.
Specifically, in his statement he noted:
“We are listening to the concerns of our fellow citizens about the image of greens in this period. The municipal authority and the mechanism that is available operates every day, organized and with a program in all parts of the municipality. I fully understand that the situation is difficult, we recommend patience to our fellow citizens because the plan we have established regarding the public space is such that the results will be seen quickly. In the current phase, four crews of the Green Department operate in the wider center, on the river, in Alcazar, two other crews deal with the maintenance of the schools and the tree lines and another four private crews operate beyond the center, in the Heroes Polytechnic and in the villages of the municipality and five other private workshops dealing with maintenance in other parts of the municipality. I believe that very soon there will be a normalization of the situation. Notices have already been issued for private plots. This year there is a greater response from individuals than in previous years. We will again draw the attention of private individuals. Fines will be imposed in cases where the municipality itself will take care of the deforestation and cleaning of private plots as provided for by the law.”
