Planning your Easter getaway? Pricefox, the energy saving and price comparison consultant by company, did all the research in order to reveal the most affordable destinations, but also those that will empty our… piggy bank.

With Easter ‘falling’ on May 5 and the May Day holiday giving us another bank holiday on Easter Tuesday, the chance to get away is one to be seized. Of course, our budget also plays a big role in the choice of destination, as well some destinations are more economical and others more expensive.

Specifically, Kalamata, Arachova and Paros are among the most economical destinations for Easter excursions, either by car or by boat. On the other hand, Corfu with its water jugs and Chios with its rocket warfare will cost a bit more, especially if you travel by plane, starting from Athens.

Road trips
The most economical choice among the destinations that can be reached by car from Athens is the Kalamata. The cost per person including transport and accommodation amounts to €171. A little more expensive is the picturesque Monemvasia. The cost of transportation amounts to €61/person and with an affordable accommodation proposal, the total cost of the trip is estimated at €202/person. Arachova follows on Tuesday, where the total cost amounts to €211/person, with transport more specifically calculated at €32 and accommodation at €179. Leonidio emerges as the most expensive Easter destination from Athens by road. For transportation the person will pay €38 and for five nights €202, total, that is, €240. Just €5 cheaper than Leonidio, Nafpaktos appears with the total cost for the Easter getaway per person reaching €235. The price includes transport €58 and accommodation €176/person.

By sea
Particularly popular for the Easter days are, however, the island destinations, both in the Cyclades and in the Dodecanese. The most economical option by boat for the Easter holidays is Paros with a total cost per person of €224. In these, the ferry has been calculated at €120 with return and the accommodation at €104. Santorini follows with the total cost of ferries and five nights per person estimated at €258. To the most sought-after and more expensive destinations include Syros with the impressive Ermoupolis and the stately Vaporia. Prices with a return ferry ticket start from €92 euros and accommodation costs from €204 for 5 nights, totaling €296/person. Almost €10 more economical than Syros, distant Patmos emerges with a total cost per person of €287. In these, the return ferry tickets have been calculated at €110 and €177 for the five nights.

Flights are expensive
The most expensive Easter destinations, however, also turn out to be the most popular. The reason for her Corfu and Chios where from Athens are easier to reach by plane. More specifically, Corfu emerges as the “queen” of Easter, as the cost for the six-day excursion by plane to the island of Faiaki amounts to €522/person. Cost in which the plane tickets have been included at €286 and the six-day stay at €286. More than €100 more economical is the Chios with the total cost per person estimated at €395. More specifically, flights to Myrovolos island are priced at €278 and accommodation at €117.
