Our Association was founded 44 years ago and is one of the

oldest on our island with intense and substantial activity during all these years.

Throughout this period of time he presented an important work and with own expenses and sponsorships of its members as well as personal work always with a perspective in favor of the village of Kinios in which 600 people live there.

The newly elected board, which emerged from the January 2024 elections, took the initiative as in courtyard of the former primary school create one recreation and sports area for the children at his own expense and personal work.

We should note that in our village, which is the only one in Syros, there is no recreation or sports area for children and youth.

Unfortunately, at the recent council of the Local Community of Ano Syros, our proposal was voted down on the grounds that the area it is used as a parking lot for the vehicles of a very small resident of the area.

We believe that this particular decision does not work in favor of the common benefit of the village but serves a very small number of residents who have been using the space for many years of their vehicles.

We consider that instead of utilizing the school’s courtyard area for the benefit of all the children of Kinios, the local councillors of the Community of Ano Syros succumbed to the pressure of a very small number of residents of the area, who proposed their personal service.

For the above reasons we strongly protest because we consider that the decision of the Local Community worked in favor of the few, who use municipal property for their personnel benefit and did not take into account a small but essential work of common benefit.

Our Association will continue to fight and be active for the improvement of their daily life and quality of life residents of Kinios.
