D. Larisaion: 2nd URBACTIV “SMALL” Transnational Meeting in Portugal

In the city of Braga, Portugal, the second transnational meeting of the “SMALL – Sharing urban solutions towards Sustainable Mobility for ALL” project, implemented within the European territorial cooperation program URBACT IV, was held on April 18 and 19.

The meeting was attended by representatives of all partners of the network, namely Ferrara (Italy – Lead Partner), Quadrilatero (Portugal), Komotini, Sofia (Bulgaria), Druskininkai (Lithuania), Strasbourg (France), Bucharest ( Romania) and SkofjaLoka (Slovenia).

The Municipality of Larissa was represented by the Deputy Mayor of Municipal Police and Traffic Interventions, Evangelos Papalexis, who emphasized the objectives of the Municipality regarding the implementation of measures of sustainable urban mobility and accessibility which are in harmony with the objectives of the project and are a critical issue for the transformation of the urban areas into sustainable cities for all.

During the two-day transnational meeting, the members of the network became familiar with local best practices in the field of sustainable urban mobility. In particular, good practices were examined for children’s transition to school, without the need to use means of transport.

At the same time, under the guidance of the Chief Expert, the partners, through participatory processes, presentations, educational tools and techniques of the URBACT program, examined the next steps and the methodology of the implementation of the Integrated Action Plan, the aim of which will be to reduce inequalities and improve of opportunities for all citizens in basic daily transportation needs.

The representatives of the partners discussed the following synergies within the network and jointly decided the schedule of the next meetings. The next meeting of the network will take place in Komotini in June 2024.
