The decision on the naming of streets in Xiropigado was revoked, after there were objections from the local community.
As AstosNews had reported in its previous publication on March 7, the municipal council of the municipality of North Kynouria unanimously decided on the naming of streets of the Municipal Community of Xiropigados. This decision upset the residents of Xiropigados, since after many years the names of the streets in the area, where there were many tourist businesses, would have to be changed.
The issue was raised at the meeting of the North Kynouria Municipal Council on Thursday, April 25, where residents of the village raised their objections to the naming.
It is not possible for a 1 km road to have three different roads
The mayor of North Kynouria, Mr. Giorgos Kambylis, after hearing the statements, said: “The procedure that has been followed was perfectly legal, there was no point of error. After the objections, the decision was revoked.”
As a city council we are not concerned with what names will be given, we received the proposal of the community council and went ahead with it.
The signs for 25 years had been put in informally and we asked the community board to re-position them. Official formal names do not exist on the streets, the matter was not completed in 1996.
Finally, Mr. Kambylis invited the president of the community to take into account all the proposals to prepare a new decision in the council with a majority.
We should mention that the decision in Diaugeia on “Regarding the naming of streets in the Municipal Community of Xiropigados of the Municipality of North Kynouria” has been revoked.
The matter was closed and the Board voted unanimously on the proposal of the mayor G. Kambyli.
