Statement by Takis Gourdoupis for the recent General Assembly of the Patras Chamber of Commerce

“To the entire commercial world of Patras.

On 24/4/2024 the general meeting of the commercial association of Patras was held.

The most historic Association in Greece and had only about 30 people attend the meeting and another twenty who came after a phone call from a member of the Board voted and of course left, they were not interested in the general meeting.

And of course, no one is responsible for this image.

All normal for them.

The vice president of the Board of Directors, Mr. Vagenas, stated that our faction considers him a centaur, and he rightly said so.

I am personally glad that this shook him, he backed down and Ms. Dionysatou took over the club. A young and honest man.

Of course, Mr. Zafeiropoulos also worked with honesty, but unfortunately he was trapped. They left him alone, showing him the exit door.

Not even a New Year’s cake was cut at the club this year, something unprecedented for the club’s history and glory.

Because I want some things to fall into place and not be deliberately misinterpreted, I will say the following.

We as representatives of our trade renewal are members of the Board of Directors of the trade association not for window display nor to take a position.
We have space in our store.

We were voted in to change the trade association and that’s what we’re doing.

The messages that traders convey to us are that they feel alone and rightly so since managers have other priorities.

The merchants of Patras have shown us great acceptance and daily ask us to change everything.

We will stand by the new president and support her in everything that is for the good of the merchants.

It is enough for her to unhook herself from the weights that are slowing down the progress of the club and to breathe new life into the club.

In the opposite case, we will be faced with the sole aim of the progress of trade, which is going through the biggest crisis of the last 15 years”.
