EVENT OF HONOR, MEMORY AND STRUGGLE DEDICATED TO THE SIX EXECUTED MYTILINE COMMUNISTS OF KAESARIANI

This year marks 80 years since May Day of 1944, when the Nazi invaders executed 200 Greek communists at the Shooting Range of Kaisariani, among them six Mytileneites. Event of honor, memory and struggle dedicated to six executed Mytilene communists of Kaisariani will be held by Sectoral Committee of Lesbos of the KKE her Tuesday 04/30 at 19:00 in Tsamakia. He will speak Kostas RigasSecretary of the Lesvos Sectoral Committee of the KKE.

We call on the lesbian people to honor our patriotic executed fellow citizens with their presence at the event, but also with their presence at the May Day strike rally on Wednesday.

The 6:

Anousas Giannis. He was born in Mandamados in 1920. He leaves his village and settles permanently in Athens. He becomes a member (and later an executive) of the KKE. He is arrested by the silk dictatorship and imprisoned in Akronafplia. During the period of the Occupation, he developed a rich resistance activity and emerged as a member of the EPON. For this reason he was arrested and executed by the conquerors at the Shooting Range of Kaisariani on May Day ?44.

Antonelis Ignatis. He was born in Mandamados in 1903. He works as an electrician at the Rapiti factory in Mytilini. In 1932 he became a member of the KKE. He was caught in 1936 by the Silk dictatorship and exiled to Anafi. After the fall of Mussolini and the armistice of Badolio (25-7-1943) the exiled Anafiotes are released. After many hardships he arrives in Gia and after two days in Syros, where he is caught again and locked up in the prisons of Syra (Lazareta). From there the Germans take him to the Averof prison and then to Haidari. On May Day 1944, he was executed by the Germans in Kaisariani.

Vassalos Telemachus. He was born in 1915 in Tenedos. He has already been involved in politics since high school. In 1934 he joined OKNE and later became Secretary of OKNE Lesvos and a member of the KKE. During the Kondyli period he is exiled to Anafi. During the silk dictatorship he works illegally, so he is caught and deported again to Anafi. He serves his military service and is sent back to Xeronisi. After the capitulation of Italy (8-9-1943) he escapes, but is arrested by the Germans in Syros and imprisoned in Averof prison. From there he was transferred to Haidari and on May Day 1944 he was executed at the Shooting Range of Kaisariani.

Kakalios Ilias. He was born in 1913 in Agiaso. He was Secretary of OKNE Agiasou, which at the time published its own local newspaper. A tailor by profession, he spearheaded the establishment of the Agiasou Tailoring Cooperative. In 1934 he became a member of the KKE and the following year he was exiled for four months to Sikino. He returns and with even greater zeal works for his views, while during the silk dictatorship he serves his military service. In December 1938, on the eve of his dismissal from the Army, he was arrested and deported to Sifnos and from there to Anafi, to serve an earlier sentence that had been imposed on him. He lives in Anafi until 1943 and from there he is transferred to the Averof prison and handed over by the “government” of Athens to the German occupation authorities. From the Averof prison he was transferred to the Haidari camp and on May Day 1944 he was executed.

Patestos Anastasis. He was born in 1902 in Moschonisia and came to Mytilene before the Asia Minor disaster. Answer? from 1919 to 1927 he serves in the gendarmerie, from which he will be dismissed due to his involvement with the communist movement. He joins the Communist Youth and at the same time works as a printer. Through his activity in the labor movement, he became a member of the KKE and in 1932 he was arrested and exiled. In 1935 he works at K.O. of Athens as organizational manager in the area of ​​Patision. At the beginning of 1936, he became Secretary of the Regional Committee of the KKE. He is arrested during the Metaxas dictatorship and exiled to Anafi. From there he was imprisoned in Akronafplia from 1937 until January 1943, when he was transferred to the Larissa camp. Then he is locked up in Averof prison and then in the Haidario camp. Executed by the Nazis at the Shooting Range of Kaisariani on May Day 1944.

Founis Stefanos. He was born in Mandamados in 1908. In 1928 he was organized in OKNE. In 1932 he graduated with honors from the Lyceum of Mytilene and was sent to Ghent, Belgium to study mechanical engineering and electrical engineering with a scholarship from the Karadonian Endowment of Mytilene. He becomes a member of the KKE and in 1935 he returns to Lesvos and works through K.O. Mytilene. He was a member of the Regional Committee of K.O. Mytilene. In 1936 he was caught in Oropos, Attica and exiled to Anafi. From there he was sent successively to Akronafplia, to the prisons of Mytilene, to the prisons of Syros (member of the group of political prisoners of the Syros Lazareta in 1938) and again to Akronafplia. In 1943 he was transferred with other Akronaflians to the prisons of Larisa and then to Haidari, from where he was taken and executed at the Shooting Range of Kaisariani on May Day 1944.
