The sanitary “bomb”, which for more than ten years has been lurking in a large area above the Ring Road, where thousands of tons of rubbish, furniture, sanitary items and all kinds of rubbish have been gathered by unconscious people in the context of an illegal dump, is being attempted to be dealt with by the new administration of the Municipality of Kordelios – Evosmos.

This is a chronic problem that had been left to its own devices, with the result that the volume of garbage has now reached enormous proportions. It is characteristic that unconscious people throw garbage and debris even in the sown fields of citizens.

Trucks and excavators from the Municipality of Kordelios – Evosmos entered the area and collected a large amount of garbage, while similar actions will be taken in the next period as well.

At the same time, the administration of the Municipality of Kordelios – Evosmos is considering ways to fence and police the area, in order to stop the throwing of rubbish and garbage, while the fines will be very high and the penalties will be very severe for those who are caught illegally.

“We inherited as a new administration a huge problem, with very large health dimensions. For more than ten years no one took the slightest initiative to deal with it. To stop the action of the unconscious and to clean up, even partially, the site, before this improvised and illegal dump takes on huge proportions. Trucks and excavators of the Cleaning service entered the site and collected part of the garbage. The effort will continue. I personally apologize to our fellow citizens for this tragic situation and for the fact that their properties are at stake. We may not have created the problem, but the management has continuity. At the same time, I am also asking for the practical help of our fellow citizens, so that together we do not allow the garbage dump to be created again. We should inform the competent authorities if we find littering and littering and the violators should be brought to the prosecutor’s office”, emphasizes the mayor of Kordelio-Evosmou, Lefteris Alexandridis.
