The policeman was found guilty by the court for the fatal traffic accident that claimed the life of 22-year-old Jason Lalaounis

The guilt of the police officer – the driver of the official vehicle as being responsible for the death of Jason Lalaounis, following a traffic accident outside the Parliament in March 2021, was decided by the Greek Justice.

The defendant was convicted of the crime of manslaughter from the 1st Three-member Criminal Court of Athens, where the family and friends of the 22-year-old motorcyclist are present.

He was given a 3-year suspended sentence, with no mitigating circumstances.

The accused had requested the recognition of the mitigating factor of the previous common-law lifehowever the prosecutor suggested that it be dismissed explaining that systematically in the past, the police officer violated the KOK turning left from Vas. Sofias to enter the forecourt of the Parliament. So “the behavior he displayed during the traffic accident was not a discrepancy” but one continued delinquent behavior.

At the previous meeting, the district attorney demanded that the officer be convicted of manslaughter.
