Spain will send Patriot to Ukraine, Greece will not according to what Mr. Mitsotakis says

--

Spain will send a small number of missiles for Patriot systems to Ukraine, according to El Pais newspaper, citing unnamed sources. The publication comes a few hours after what the Greek Prime Minister stated in an interview with SKAI. Mr. Mitstotakis confirmed that we were asked for Patriot and S-300, but we will not give either.

Spain has ruled out sending Ukraine air defense systems, but will offer Kiev missiles, according to the newspaper.

Spain’s Ministry of Defense has not yet commented on the information.

Spain has three Patriot arrays, which it bought second-hand from Germany in 2004 and 2014, El Pais reported.

“We must strengthen our commitment to Ukraine,” a Spanish diplomatic source commented to foreign journalists yesterday, Thursday.

Earlier this month, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky told NATO member states that Kiev needed at least seven Patriot systems or other sophisticated air defense systems to counter Russian airstrikes. At the same time, he called on them to strengthen the military assistance they provide to Kiev.
