The solution to the problem that existed regarding the safe place to conduct tests for prospective drivers in Patras seems to have been found.
The autopsy that was done a few days ago by the vice-regional governor of Achaia Fokionas Zaimis, the managing director of OLPA Panagiotis Anastasopoulos and members of the Board of Directors of the driving instructors’ union was in two different places.
According to information from “Peloponnisos”, the area that was finally qualified by the Region of Western Greece in collaboration with OLPA, is a part of the six acres of the former Piraiki-Patraiki factory on the Dymaion Coast.
In relation to the other option which was a site near the entrance of the new port, the site in Piraiki-Patraiki meets all the conditions set by the Association of Driving Instructors and had put it as the first choice.
Fokion Zaimis, who has the responsibility, has instructed the technical service to conduct an autopsy by an engineer of the Region in the next few days in order to determine the cost of cleaning and demarcating the area to be used.
Then, depending on the amount of the cost, the money will be found from various sources to start the work.
The aim of the Region is to have the area ready as soon as possible so that the Association of Driving Instructors of the Prefecture of Achaia can then be informed, which will receive it to start the examination process for the prospective drivers.
In addition to the solution to a permanent request of the Association of Driving Instructors, one of the positives is that a part of the former Piraiki-Patraiki factory that has remained unused for so many years will gain “life” and in fact in front of a point that thousands of citizens cross daily.
We remind you that the site of the former factory of Piraiki-Patraiki belongs to OLPA and much has been heard about its utilization, but so far nothing has been done.
Once the renovation of the part intended for Achaia’s driving instructors is completed, it is a good opportunity to start the processes for the utilization – in whatever direction it is decided – for the remaining part of the former factory.
