A police officer who was attacked by two people in the center of Athens ended up seriously injured in the hospital.

It was a little after 12 noon when a car drove onto the pedestrian street on Maizonos Street, in Omonia.

The two passengers, Roma, got out of the vehicle and came to grips with the 52-year-old policeman who was trying to escape the blows of the “bullies”.

It is pointed out that the policeman has lost one of his eyes in the past years and that is why he was serving in office duty at the AT of Agios Panteleimonas.

Finally, passers-by who witnessed the incident called the police who went to the scene and arrested one of the two perpetrators, aged 41, and took him to the police station for further investigation.

As for the police officer, due to the blows he has received in various parts of his body, he remains in the hospital and it is unknown when his state of health will allow him to give a statement to his colleagues about the incident.
