A new confrontation about the cleanliness of the city between the municipal authority and the Workers’ Association arose at the City Hall. Cause, once again the waste, with the two sides moving in different directions.

At the recent meeting, the Workers’ Association repeated the issues it had raised with the General Secretary of the Municipality on February 8, when the last meeting with the Union took place and it was found that absolutely nothing has progressed.

The Workers’ Association made it clear that the matter of drawing up and passing the budget may have occupied the financial service in February 2024, when the previous meeting had taken place, however this did not prevent the other services from doing studies, if they had such a mandate. However, no order was ever given and no agency even proceeded to study works that had been done in the past, such as the removal of iron objects from the construction site, which are a source of contamination, he adds in his announcement.

In addition, he states that absolutely nothing has been done regarding the health and safety issues that concern the cleaning workers, adding that the payment of the workshops that carry out the repairs of the vehicles and the project machinery has not progressed, with the result that approximately half of the fleet is not being used.

The Association invites its members to participate in the May Day strike and the gathering that will take place at the Labor Center at half past ten in the morning.
