Update on the construction progress of the New Komotini Hospital

On the occasion of the start of the construction works of the new Komotini General Hospital “SNF” at the beginning of November 2023, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, faithful to its commitment to maintain an open dialogue with the local community, throughout the development of the project, is organizing another open meeting for the public with the participation of representatives of the SNF, the Ministry of Health, the study team and the construction contractor – AVAX Group. The Deputy Minister of Health, Marios Themistokleous, will participate in the discussion, while the president of the SNF, Andreas Drakopoulos, will address a greeting via live connection. The open meeting regarding the progress of the new General Hospital of Komotini “SNF” will be held in the courtyard of Tsanaklio on Friday, May 17 at 18:00. The event is open and free to all without pre-registration.

The donation for the design, construction and equipment of the new Komotini General Hospital SNF, as well as the University Pediatric Hospital of Thessaloniki SNF and the new Sparta General Hospital SNF are part of the International Health Initiative (HII) which is fully funded by the SNF, with a total budget exceeding $1 billion. The development of the three new state-of-the-art SNF hospitals reflects the shared vision of the SNF and the internationally renowned architect, Renzo Piano, to create model Hospitals of the future, which are based on a fundamentally human-centered approach and incorporate pioneering environmental specifications. Upon completion of the construction and equipment process, the three new SNF hospitals will be handed over to the Greek State for immediate operation within the framework of the National Health System.
