Traffic arrangements in Athens, Kallithea, Paleo Faliro, Megara, Marathon and Lavrio for the handover of the Olympic Flame

The journey of the Olympic Flame to Greece ends today, as in the afternoon its delivery-receipt ceremony will take place at the Kallimarmaro Stadium in order to continue its journey to Paris and the summer Olympic Games.

As part of the Olympic Flame handover ceremony, tenor Babis Velissarios will perform “Olympionikos”, a poem by Pindar performed by Giorgos Heimonas, set to music by Dimitris Papadimitriou, accompanied by the orchestra and choir of ERT.

For its part, the Traffic Authority is proceeding with traffic regulations in the areas of the Municipalities of Megarea, Marathonos, Lavreotiki, Palaio Faliro, Kallithea and Athens through which the Olympic Flame will pass today.

According to the police, during the morning and afternoon hours tomorrow there will be a gradual and temporary stoppage of traffic along the road sections below, as follows:

• • Municipality of Megareo (hours 08:00 – 09:00):
• Minos – around the Central Square of Megara (Ceremony) – October 28 – Byzantium.

• • Marathon Municipality (hours 09:45΄-11:45΄):
• Marathon Lake – around Municipal Square. Papastamou – around Heroes’ Square – Marathon Street – Dimokratis – Marathon Road Start (Ceremony) – Marathon Street (Nea Makri).

• • Municipality of Lavreotiki (12:10-13:30):
• E.O. Rafina-Lauriou (park) – Kokori Panagioti – Cultural Center of Lavrio – Agia Paraskevi – Kountourioti – Souniou Street – Souniou Archaeological Site (Ceremony).

• • Municipality of Palaio Faliro (hours 14:15-14:40):
• Posidonos St. – near EUGENIDIOU IDRIMATOS – Iasonos – Amphitheas St.

• • Municipality of Kallithea (hours 14:40-15:50):
• Katsoni Street – Doirani – Evrypidou – STAVROS NIARCHOS FOUNDATION CULTURAL CENTER (Ceremony) – Syggrou Street.
