The revision of the design for the completion of the Inner Ring in the section concerning Taki Tsioga Street which was revealed by larissanet.gr in a related reportage confirmed today the deputy mayor of Technical Services and Greenery Mr. Chr. Terzoudis during a meeting of the Municipal Council.
The position of Mr. Terzoudis was made in the context of the accountability process in which the municipal councilor of the Larissai Alliance, Mr. George Soultis stated the following:
“What are the reasons that force the change of the project with risk and danger for the implementation of the whole project? It’s about aligning with your pre-election communications campaign or serving the specific “interests” that were the ones making the noise pre-election.
Is there a traffic study and traffic simulation for the new route? If not, there is a traffic risk that all the traffic in the city will be “blown up”, since the traffic in Anthimou Gazi and in the old Krannonos will get worse, which seems that half of it remains double traffic.
Does the new engraving have anything to do with what the protesting signatories were asking for? Does Krannonos really remain part of the opening and double circulation? Will you ask the residents of Krannonos who will not be able to leave their homes in this way?
Are you sure that the serious delays resulting from this change do not endanger such an important project for the city (the project will not be finished in 5 years, if you proceed with these changes)”.
The above questions were answered by Mr. Terzoudis stating that the project was not initially properly consulted, stressing that the faction that currently constitutes the municipal authority, is “consistent” with what it stated before the election, that is, in shaping the road in a way that will not affect citizens’ access to the river.
He added that any change will be made in consultation with the relevant ministry and pointed out that the green space will quadruple compared to the existing study, creating a “lung” of green in the specific area. “We only serve the interests of the city” said Mr. Terzoudis in closing.
Then followed the placement of the head of the People’s Rally, Mr. Petrou Krikis who initially pointed out the issue of flooding and the proximity to the river stressing that his faction was opposed to the opening from the beginning.
Tension followed between Mr. Krikis and the Municipal Councilors of the Larissai Alliance regarding Mr. Sultis’ reference to “interests”. Mr. Soultis emphasized that there had been a consultation from the beginning of the project, while the municipal authority, which from the position of the opposition had agreed with the planning at the time, changed its tactics before the elections due to interests that had to do with a specific business and apartment building in the area.
In closing, the mayor Mr. Thanasis Mamakos pointed out in his turn that any change will be made in cooperation with the ministry and will be put to consultation at the municipal council.
