Sotiriou: “I have broken my limits, I did not want this to be the last match of the year – Basketball – Greece – Panathinaikos

This year’s A1 Women’s basketball title will be decided in the fifth final, with Panathinaikos to prevail 60-50 of Olympiakos thanks to his excellent defense, tying the series at 2-2!

After the end of the match, Katerina Sotiriou, stated that she did not want this to be the last match of the year, stressing that all the girls showed the fighting spirit that represents the club.

About the game: “I didn’t want this to be the last game of the year. We owed it to ourselves, the least for this team and my teammates is to be in the final of the finals. Olympiacos is a very good opponent, they have proven it, we can’t say anything about it. What we care about is us. We weren’t good in the previous game, we didn’t show the fighting spirit that represents the club and it hurt our ego a lot. We wanted to give the world and ourselves what we deserved, another victory. I think today we played one of the best games against Olympiakos, we left no room for reaction. Every defeat has made us stronger. The defeat in SEF was a simple away defeat, but for us the way it happened really bothered us and I think we proved it today. It is a huge season, we believe in ourselves, we want victory and we will give our best and I think today we left our message to our opponents and to our world that we will be faithful to our appointment. We will be fighters until the end and from then on whatever God wants.

Today I think I did what I know very well and I think everyone took a step further. I want to be a leader by example. I have put in a huge overdrive this year and physically and mentally, I have pushed my limits. These are personal experiences, I want to give my best and I want this to be an example for the rest of my teammates. I’m a piece of this puzzle, it’s very important.”

On whether this was the last dance:“I just wanted this not to be the last game of the season. I achieved another goal of mine, I just want the championship. As a prejudice I didn’t want to say my goal, but I want the double”
