A 55-year-old man accused of beat up and threatened to kill his wifeinside their apartment on the east side of town.
According to the case file, the incident occurred last Thursday night when the accused tried to hit with punch in the face his wife, but the woman managed to pull away and hit her on the shoulder. Then, as the sufferer lay down on the bed, he grabbed her by the neck and threatened to he will kill her.
The police were notified by the couple’s neighbors as they were alarmed by the voices and commotion they were hearing, as a result of which the man was arrested and taken to the prosecutor. He was charged with domestic violence and menacing and referred to stand trial.
Before the judges, the woman stated that she and her husband have been together for 40 years, since they were children, and attributed her beating to “bad time”, emphasizing that he does not wish to be prosecuted. “Everything happened upstairs on his nerves and I forgive him. He faces several health problems. There has never been a similar incident,” he said, asking the judges not to punish him to return to their home.
Under these circumstances, the district attorney suggested to the androgynous that they start the process of criminal mediation, a proposal which they accepted. The case was adjourned to September 2025 and the defendant was released without bail.
