The bust of perhaps the most important Greek film producer and founder of Finos Film, Philopoimenos Finos, was unveiled today.

The unveiling of the bust of Philopoimenos Fino was made by the Minister of Culture Lina Mendonis and the Mayor of Athens Haris Doukas, earlier today in the park of the Larissa station. His bust was created by the sculptor Vangelis Ilias with funding from the Ministry of Culture.

Among others, the actor was present at the unveiling Yannis Vogiatzis and cinematographer Nikos Kavoukidis, who worked at the Finos Film studios, the Deputy Minister of Culture Christos Dimasthe mayor of Athens, Harry Doukas but also the former mayor of Athens Kostas Bakoyannis.

The Society of Greek Directors, through its president Xaris Papadopoulos, in its announcement stated, among other things, that “Filopoimin Finos, is the model of a Greece that struggles in adverse and difficult conditions and manages to win, highlighting the greatness of this place and this people”.

“With his main means of honor and passion for the reconstruction of Greek cinema, he highlighted all those technicians, actors and directors who solidified our modern culture. He generously gave opportunities to the young people he considered his children, he highlighted all the talents we grew up with, he was always generous to the difficulties and hardships of the people who worked alongside him, he listened to the new technologies that were circulating in the
his time and he had a single vision for every artist he had under his wing: to succeed in every way by surpassing himself”, they said in the announcement.

“It was an immense school of knowledge, but also of an ethic of solidarity and self-sacrifice. He was a refined and complete craftsman who tends to disappear nowadays. It is our wish and our duty, we the creators and the State, to follow the example of the pioneer Philopoimenos Finos, so that we make our cinema the best ambassador of Greece”, they concluded.

Philopoimin Finos was born in Kato Tithorea of ​​Lokrida in 1908. His father, a doctor, became a theater manager, turning theaters into cinemas. The young Philopoimin loved the “machines” and the technique of cinema. He studied Law in Athens, political science in Germany, but the cinema eventually took him forever.
