At the Cannes Film Festival, a film by students of the Film Department of AUTH

The film entitled “The Chaos She Left Behind” is the first Greek film to compete at LA CINEF at the Cannes Film Festival

The Chaos She Left Behinda film shot as part of his thesis in his direction Nikos Kolioukos and the thesis in her photograph Alexandra Riba at the Film Department of the School of Fine Arts of AUTH, becomes the first Greek film to compete in LA CINEF of Cannes Film Festival for 23 years, as it was chosen from among 2,263 entries from around the world.

Most of the film’s contributors are students of the Film Department of AUTH, while the equipment used for the film is from the Film Department.

The supervisor of Nikos Kolioukou’s diploma thesis was Dimitris Koutsiabasakos, Professor of Directing at the Department of Cinema of the AUTH, and the supervisor of Alexandra Riba’s thesis was the Professor of Cinematography of the Department of Cinema of the AUTH Panagiotis Salapatas.

On the occasion of the international award, the Rector of AUTH, Professor Charalambos Feidas, said “The film by the students of the AUTH Film Department left behind 2,263 entries from all over the world and is competing at the Cannes Film Festival among 17 other films by new creators, a fact which highlights the talent of the creators as well as the high quality educational work produced at Aristotle University”.

The award-winning directorial debut of Nikos Kolioukos will have its international premiere in the Official Competition Study Section LA CINEF of the 77th Cannes Film Festival, among 17 other selected films by promising new creators.

The film had its Greek premiere at the Drama Festival’s Student Section last September, winning the Best Director and Best Actress Awards for Marina Siotou.

The film is also competing this year, representing the Film Department of AUTH, for the Iris Short Student Film Award of the Hellenic Film Academy, and has already qualified for the final 12.

Summary:

Anna feels that now is her last chance to pursue her dream, a musical career in Paris. Success wouldn’t seem so elusive if her alcoholic father didn’t stand in her way. A story about love and dependence, about all the things you love and the things you want to leave behind.

It should be noted that in 2001 The Eyes That Eat by Sylla Tzoumerkas was the first Greek film to compete in the Official Competition Study Section LA CINEF of the Cannes Film Festival.
