The Ministry of Health finds everything in good shape at the same time as citizens cry out in anguish over the shortages

In a report submitted by the MP of Aitoloakarnania of PASOK-Movement for Change Christina Starakas for the immediate need to staff the Ano Chora Health Center of the Municipality of Nafpaktia, the Ministry of Health responded yesterday.

More specifically, Christina Staraka had forwarded the request of the Presidents of the Nafpaktia Municipality Communities and Bodies of the mountainous Nafpaktia for the return of the 4X4 passenger vehicle – OPAP Donation – back to K.Y. Ano Choras in its previous state before moving to K.Y. Nafpaktos and its manning with a driver, the provision of a new 4×4 ambulance in K.Y. Upper Country of Mountainous Nafpaktia and the health coverage of the communities of Western Mountainous Nafpaktia with the operation of a First Aid Station and a doctor in the Community of Platano Nafpaktia.

According to the deputy Minister of Health Mrs. Agapidakis who signs the answer, to K.Y. In Ano Chora, everything is well done. Ignoring the concerns and requests of the competent bodies of the region, he states that today the K.Y. it is adequately staffed, both with staff and ambulances. “K.Y. operates in the morning hours and for five days a week, from Monday to Friday and with full on-call coverage every day of the month (active on-call), providing uninterrupted all primary health care services”. underlines regarding the coverage of K.Y in personnel and service provision. With regard to the ambulances of the primary structures owned by the 6th Ministry of Health that assist the work of the EKAB in the Nafpaktia area, as it informs, two fully repaired vehicles are now operating in the area. While always in accordance with the 2021-2023 biennium itself, despite the damage to the above vehicles “no malfunction of support was observed in the process and work of the primary transports, thanks obviously also to the support of the local center of EKAB in Patras, which had an additional ambulance and crews in the area on a permanent basis”.

Regarding the disputed passenger vehicle, the Deputy Minister states that “its ownership belongs to G.N. Messolonghi and has been granted for ten years to K.Y. Ano Chora, following a decision of the Board of Directors. of the hospital. In August 2023, the said vehicle from K.Y. Ano Choras was granted to K.Y. Nafpaktos, satisfying the Board of Directors. of G.N. Messolonghiou related request of K.Y. Nafpaktos to cover increased service needs and mainly to serve the medical staff of Ano Chora in their movements”.

Commenting on the above, the PASOK MP stated: “For the Deputy Minister of Health, it seems that the residents of the area of K.Y. Ano Choras Nafpaktia receive the best possible health care.

It is surprising how in their reports the competent bodies are in diametrically opposite direction from Mrs. Agapidakis, sending a cry of anguish for the general image of the NHS.

In any case, the situation in the Hospitals and Health Centers of the region is disappointing, with the shortages in human resources and logistical infrastructures being huge.

The Ministry will either proceed with a serious strengthening of the NHS or will continue to manage people’s pain and anxieties through communication.”
