At the end of 2024, the procedures related to the program “Priority 6 – Food Aid & Material Deprivation of the Region of Western Macedonia” (TEBA) are expected to begin, according to what was discussed during the working meeting held today, Thursday, April 25, 2024, between the Deputy Governor of Health and Social Cohesion Tasos Foudoglou, the Head of the Administrative Authority of TEVA Yiannis Paspalas, the General Director of the General Directorate, Administration and Finance of the Region of Western Macedonia Vassilis Kotoula, representatives of the Municipalities of Western Macedonia and service agencies.

The program concerns the Implementation of a Network of Actions to deal with Material Deprivation by providing Food and Basic Material Assistance (BAS) to the needy, including children, with a parallel targeted provision of Accompanying Measures to support their social integration and concerns the entire Western Region of Macedonia and its beneficiaries.

The aim is to ensure social cohesion, promote social integration and remove the social exclusion of the beneficiaries of the Region of Western Macedonia.

The target groups of the act are the beneficiaries of the Minimum Guaranteed Income and individuals and households who experience extreme poverty and need support with the provision of food aid and items to deal with material deprivation, according to the income and property criteria to be defined by a decision of the Minister of Social Cohesion and Family.

As the Deputy Governor of Health Tasos Foudoglou pointed out, “According to our regional strategy, the goal from now on is that all Social Policy Programs that will concern the Region of Western Macedonia, regardless of which financial program they are part of, are based on the needs of the region and not to come ready, prepared by people who have nothing to do with Western Macedonia”.

Among other things, Mr. Foudoglou asked the representatives of the Municipalities, the Community Centers that exist in their Municipalities, to respond to their original role and to turn into hubs of an integrated welfare system. To form services that will respond to the needs of citizens and deal seriously with their problems.
