By its decision (ADA: 97Φ446MGΘΗ-96Θ) the Municipal Council of Mytilini approved by a majority the creation of a modern tourist logo for the annual advertising campaigns of tourist promotion of the Municipality of Mytilini, with a budgeted expenditure of 10,000 euros.

The proposal was made by the Deputy Mayor of Tourism & Entrepreneurship, Niko Giannaka who mentioned that one of the most basic elements for the execution of a tourist promotion campaign with the aim of improving the recognition and identification of the destination of Lesvos, is the creation of a modern logo. According to the EOT circular dated 28/12/2018, all national tourism agencies should adopt their visit address and place name in Latin script. The ultimate goal is for the websites of all the country’s destinations to be listed on the EOT portal www.visitgreece.gr

He also mentioned that in the context of the project “Integrated promotion and promotion of the Tourist and Cultural wealth of Lesvos using innovative IT applications” of the act “Integrated promotion and promotion of the tourist and cultural wealth of Lesvos using innovative IT applications” which was included in the Northern Aegean PEP 2014-2020, the Municipality of Mytilini received in November 2023 the information website with the address www.visitlesvos.gr The specific website includes the registration of tourist resources, attractions, history, traditions, PDO products as well as events that can attract visitors from Greece and abroad.
“We propose the creation of a modern tourist logo which will be used in the annual advertising campaigns of the Municipality of Mytilini and will concern destination brand of Lesvos with the title “visitlesvos’. The logo should follow global tourism trends and include such elements as to visualize the most useful features of Lesvos, with the ultimate goal of international identification of the destination. The tourist logo will be used not only in the tourism promotion of the Municipality of Mytilini but also in material for events, conferences and in general outreach and public relations activities. Based on the logo, a relevant study will be prepared that will include the entire identity of the destination of Lesvos”.

The expenditure for the creation of the tourist logo and the identity study of the destination is budgeted at 10,000 euros.

The proposal was voted against by the members of the Popular Rally Panagiotis Augustidis and Niki Tsirigotis.
