A municipal councilor attacked and beat the deputy mayor of Infrastructure and Technical Services of the municipality of Nice today outside the Nice Magistrates’ Court.
According to ERT, the deputy mayor of Nice Eleftherios Hatzipavlidis was hit in the face and was taken to Tzanio with bleeding on the forehead for first aid and to undergo tests. The municipal councilor has not been arrested, while the two men belong to rival factions.
The incident comes just one day after the attack of the former MP of the Spartans Constantinos Floros on the MP of the Hellenic Solution Vassilis Grammenos.
Mayor of Nice: I condemn the act of violence against the Deputy Mayor
The mayor of Nice, Konstantinos Maragakis, condemned the attack. “I condemn in the most unequivocal way the act of violence against the Deputy Mayor of Technical Services of our Municipality by a municipal councilor of the opposition faction. Violence, especially when it is manifested by people who were elected to serve the interests of the citizens and the city, offends every human value. The Deputy Mayor is being treated at the Tzanio General Hospital of Piraeus and his health is progressing well.”
