First meeting of the Coordinating Body for Civil Protection of the Municipality of Lamia

The Local Operational Coordinating Body for Civil Protection (T.E.S.O.P.P.) of the Municipality of Lamia held its first meeting on the morning of Thursday, April 25, 2024 at 6-8 Ainianon Street, under the chairmanship of the Deputy Mayor of Politics Protection Achillea Tzouvara and the Senior Head of the Autonomous Department of Civil Protection of the Municipality of Lamia Ioannis Mylonis.

This is the new coordinating body of involved bodies which is an evolution of the Local Coordinating Body (LOC), as it emerges after the recent legislative regulations in which the responsibilities of the Municipalities in matters of civil protection also increase.

Present at the first meeting were the Deputy Mayor of Local Development & Traffic Department, Mr. Georgios Zisimos, the Deputy Mayor of the Municipal Police, Ms. Evangelia Hapsa Matsouka, the Forester of Lamia, Mr. Dimosthenis Vassiliou, from the Police Department of Lamia, and Mr. Evangelos Alexandris, from the Lamia Traffic Department A/A Mr. Apostolos Katsinas, from the Fire Service the ANPHOS Mr. Sotirios Sverdilas, the Senior Head of the Environment Directorate Ms. Angeliki Makrygianni, the Senior Head of the Geotechnical Services & Local Development Directorate and Ilias Kyrodimos, the Senior Head of the Municipal Police Directorate Mr. Vasilios Katsoulis, the Senior Head of the Department of Social Policy & Solidarity Ms. Aikaterini Tsadimas, the head of the Traffic Office Mr. Brekis Dimitrios, the representative from OFYPEKA Ms. Evangelia Donta, the representatives of the Lamia Hunting Association Mr. Georgios Andriopoulos & Mr. Kon/nos Moschos as well as the Secretary of (TESOPP) employee of the Autonomous Civil Protection Department Mr. Panourgias Panagos.

During the meeting, issues related to planning, prevention measures and Civil Protection actions to deal with risks during the fire fighting season were discussed. The preparation was thoroughly discussed, as well as the degree of readiness of the agencies to prevent and deal with possible danger, the strengthening of security and cooperation in the context of the protection of citizens. Afterwards, the representatives of the involved agencies described how they help when required at an operational level, while the scope of cooperation between different agencies was also discussed with the aim of effectively dealing with each incident.

This convergence of Civil Protection strengthens the coherence and exchange of good practices, promoting a safer and more protected environment for our citizens.
