Today, after the news of Dimitris Kallianou’s death was announced, Attikon Hospital ordered an autopsy.

“Following yesterday’s press release of the P.G.N. “ATTIKON” announces today 25/4/2024 the death of Dimitrios Kallianos and we express our deepest condolences to his family. In order to investigate all the hospitalization conditions of the incident from the day of his admission until today, the Administration of the P.G.N. “ATTIKON” ordered the conduct of a Sworn Administrative Examination”, says the hospital’s announcement.

The night before yesterday, the meteorologist and ND MP had posted a video on Facebook writing: “Today half of my life was cut off. I still hope that with the help of the Virgin Mary, the rest will not be cut. They will pay dearly for what they did to my father.”

“I want to say some things not so that you feel sorry for me, but to expose some people who have brought my family to this situation” began G. Kallianos, to add:

“My father has many health problems, as he is on dialysis and has diabetes. 15 days ago he entered Voula as he blackened his finger, since he has a diabetic finger. He was treated very well in Voula, but was told that such big issues cannot be dealt with properly and he should be in another hospital. My father went to this hospital and had his big toe amputated.

“For the next five days he was doing well. On the sixth day he was full. My brother is a doctor in Cyprus and he came, saw him and told him to get on the platform and be admitted to the ICU.

“The doctors told me that “we all sign that Mr. Kallianos is fine”. My brother begged them to put him in the Intensive Care Unit.”

Yannis Kallianos described pleading with doctors to put him on an ICU, but to no avail.

“Finally, my father had a seizure today and was intubated. Because what my father went through, many people will have gone through, they can’t imagine what they have to go through from me and my brother. Things are difficult, but I hope he succeeds. He had no oxygen at all and a nurse came by every 4 hours,” he concluded.

The answer of Adonis Georgiadis

Adonis Georgiadis replied to Yiannis Kallianos:

“I let a few hours pass by the touching and human post of the colleague and @kallianos , before being placed. But I’m not used to hiding and I wouldn’t do it now either. I absolutely respect the pain of every relative for his man and every son for his father. After all, I have lost mine too and I understand the pain. But, I have to clarify for the public to be properly informed, some things: A) The process of entering an ICU patient is transparent, according to strict medical criteria. Therefore, the Ministry and I personally do not interfere -officially- in this purely medical procedure. B) None of us are exempt from this process, as access to an ICU bed can in some cases decide someone’s life or death. Against this we are all absolutely equal. Decisions are made by doctors based on scientific criteria. C) I have absolute confidence in our medical staff and in this case the legal procedure and legal criteria have been absolutely followed. For reasons of medical confidentiality I would not be allowed to know the exact state of health of the patient, but I assure you that no one at the hospital was indifferent. The ESY and its officers save thousands of people every day and do so with knowledge, conscience, empathy, sensitivity and professionalism. I wish the father of my friend Giannis a happy birthday and I assure him that the National Health Service is doing everything humanly possible to make sure everything goes well for his father, but also for every fellow citizen who needs care.”

Kallianos to Adonis: I don’t mess with you, the clinic is to blame

Yiannis Kallianos came back by answering the Minister of Health:

“My dear friend Adonis, thank you very much for your humane message. I don’t mess with you. The protocols are specific and we didn’t want to violate any of them.

But we both know, very well, friend Adonis, what it was that was not implemented for 4-5 whole days. And it’s not your fault, it’s the fault of the clinic where my father was and the doctors who “monitored” him and who said that the man is doing very well while his oxygen was decreasing every day. Didn’t they say so?

You, rightly say, cannot interfere in who will enter the ICU. But the doctors judge.

1. The Vascular surgeon who operated on my father (finger amputation) was begged by my brother (as a cardiologist – electrophysiologist Doctor) that he cannot be supported on the simple vascular surgery bed as he should be, he wanted support aerobically and hemodynamically in the ICU or ICU without intubation. But the Vascular surgeon said that my father is doing great.

2. He never spoke to my brother as a colleague. He told me that my father is doing great and that his exams are amazing. I have everything recorded in both messages and calls.

3. My father was never evaluated by a curator of another specialty but only by specialists of other specialties. Many of them were ordinary students.

4. We talked to intensivists at other hospitals and they wouldn’t put him in the ICU because they were looking for hours (while my father passed out) to find out if he met the criteria. So what are these criteria? Are there age criteria or do only those who are healthy enter the ICU?

5 We experienced the “perfection” of the scientific staff of this particular clinic, that a man who was hemodynamically unstable, septic, with a decreased level of consciousness and with saturation at 60-65% was judged by the professor that there was no reason to enter the ICU platform .

6. Professor, commander and deputy commander, they told me that my father’s exams were amazing, perfect, more than good. And they were telling me that the Doctors at the clinic decided that my father is doing well. Here they disputed that he also has pulmonary fibrosis according to the Professor, something from which he suffers for years. They made such good and detailed assessments.

7. I called the Professor more than 10 times and he told me that he is not putting him on a platform because he will be fine. There is no reason. When he saw, after 5 days of us begging him on our knees that he was now one step before death, he showed a little interest and with his pass put him on a platform to enter the ICU.

8. Finally, my father had a seizure and was put in the ICU in the same hospital, in Attiko, where he was intubated. I have everything in messages and calls (audio recordings that I sent because I didn’t have the courage to even write a message) but also all the other evidence. What I will do from now on, dear Minister Adonis, with all due respect, I will tell you say it concerns no one but my father and his honor. Everything in the light, without being afraid of anyone who will try to make me a liar, because thousands of people have been in my father’s position in the past. I have all the evidence which I will testify publicly if necessary. As well as the exact names of the Doctors”.
