Under the condition to move from the house where he lives with his wife and 13-year-old son but also not to approach them within 100 meters not one will go to jail 50 years old at Thessaloniki which was judged guilty of domestic threat.
The man was convicted from Autoforno Three-member Criminal Court of Thessaloniki in 18 months imprisonment, which was suspended under the above conditions. “If you don’t comply with them, you will serve the sentence,” said the president of the court, addressing the defendant.
The 50-year-old was brought to justice after complaint by his wife about threats which he allegedly fired at her and their minor child.
As the witness testified before the court, on April 22, she asked the defendant for 20 euros to pay for the 13-year-old’s tutoring, when he started cursing her and speaking derogatorily to her.
“He said ‘I don’t care what you do, go find money’ and rushed to hit me. Our son stepped in to stop him. He threatened us both,” the woman noted in her statement and added that she has been subjected to violent behavior by her husband since the beginning of their marriage. “The little one is going to a psychologist. I am trying very hard because I want to keep our family. He doesn’t let me work, so I don’t have my own money,” the woman noted.
“After 14 years, I made my first complaint in March. He always told me “if you go you will be in trouble”. Both I and the child are afraid. I don’t know how he can react. Shall I tell you that I have hidden all the knives in my house?” concluded the witness.
In his apology the accused claimed that he did not threaten them. “I told her that I don’t have money and for the little one not to interfere”, she commented among other things.
He did not give clear answers about the incidents of violence, while in a defiant style he asserted that the child was the one who attacked. “She generally doesn’t respect anything. He has been cursing my relatives since the day we got married,” was what he kept repeating.
Upon hearing the sentence imposed on him and the ban on his son, all he asked was how he can get his things out of the house.
