Opening session of its work Local Urban Plan of Tripolitook place at the Malliaropoulio Theater in Tripoli.

It is about the evolution of the old General Urban Plan of the city, which was approved in 1986, during the days of Tassos Sehiotis (implemented almost in its entirety).

With the 1986 GIS, the Tripoli district was expanded by 2000 acres, approximately and 50% of the old district was revised in 1956. Today, a major revision is underway in the area of 11u Constitution, which concerns approximately 10% of the 1956 plan. We aim, soon, to complete the review of the remaining part of the old plan. Evaluating the role of the 1986 GIS, the assessment is particularly positivesaid the mayor of Tripoli Kostas Tzoumisin his speech.

And he continued, saying the following: Today, the reconstruction of Agios Vassiliou Square and the surrounding streets is underway, expanding the pedestrian network even more. Tripoli is a pedestrian-friendly city, with an upgraded historical center, capable of further upgrading its urban organization. We sought for Tripoli to be included in the b study cycle of the TPS, the “Konstantinos Doxiadis” Urban Planning Reforms program. We believe that with the Local Urban Planning, a creative cycle begins for the entire municipality. The municipality has a very bad experience from the 1997 GIS, which, although started, was never completed».

In conclusion, Kostas Tzioumis emphasized the following about the Local Town Planning, which has just started: ” We seek a developmental TPS. We want the creation of organized receptors for industry and logistics, we want arrangements that will contribute to the stimulation of the primary sector and the increase of tourism activity. At least 10 major investments are seeking to set up in Tripoli. Already, the 3 have acquired installation plots and their planning and licensing is in progress. The lack of industrial plots is a big problem. The plots of land of BIPE have been exhausted and the immediate expansion of its boundaries is a first priority. We want to design reception areas for manufacturing and business activities and this should be the first central pillar of TPS. The increase in tourism should be the second pillar. We will proceed to integrate the extensive urban regeneration into the TPS, with a focus on a virtual reality digital space that will be a modern museum of the Greek Revolution. The renovations are aimed at the public space. We will also present our plan to develop Tripoli into a research and digital innovation hub. Also, in TPS we should also target our important antiquities. The large public estate of 2000 acres, around the Taka reservoir, is also a bet for planning. Of course, there are both ecosystems of Mainalos and Parnonas. Finally, the third pillar will concern the primary sector. the Kandila irrigation system and the Taka irrigation system, with a total budget of 100 million Euros. PDO products can also contribute to the growth of the primary sector. There is also the fourth pillar, which concerns the residential organization (land uses, rezoning of settlements, urban planning, expansion, Tripoli zoning, corrections of errors in the current land uses, zoning regulations, urban planning organization of the University, expansion of the area of installation of the University premises and their consolidation with the urban fabric of the city, establishment of a municipal road network in areas outside of the urban plans and approved settlement boundaries). The fifth pillar concerns sinkholes and main streams, while the sixth concerns road axes and transport. Finally, we should also look at the issues of the infrastructure of the Tegea exhibition, but also those that have to do with the sports facilities of the city»

In the Local Town Planning, representatives of the Union of Economic Agencies participate, which has undertaken, following an open tender, the preparation of the Town Planning Plan study (concerns Tripoli, Levidi, Mantineia, Tegea and Korythion)

The engineers in charge presented this first plan, which of course, little by little, will be finalized, enriched, corrected and discussed in the consultation.
