ND stays out of the series on its right with an autonomous electoral strategy

Arriving at the event for the presentation of the AEGIS program for Civil Protection, Kyriakos Mitsotakis received repeated questions from journalists both about the sad scenes inside the Parliament with the beating of a Hellenic Solution MP by the former MP of the Spartans Konstantinos Floros, as well as about the exclusion of the Spartans, but he did not answer. And coming out, however, in a short well, he referred to the comment made by the government representative about the happenings in the Parliament, talking about the phenomenon of democracy’s extortion and thuggery

Mr. Mitsotakis did not want to act as a… commentator, basically because he had no reason to do so. He himself chose to function institutionally and to exclude himself from the “serial” set up on the right of the ND, with the Velopoulos party and the ex-Spartan MP to exchange poison arrows and insults. As for the Spartans case, government officials say that the ND did its duty since it filed a brief with the Areopagus with a coherent legal argument describing the Stiga party as a “shell” party, with its real leader locked up in its prisons Domokou Ilias Kasidiaris. Of course, the government staff did not ignore Stiga’s positive comments, from the floor of the Parliament, about SYRIZA, which did not file a memorandum against the party, unlike PASOK and the New Left, and they accused Mr. Kasselakis’s party of ” “fishing” for votes in murky waters.

Rallying regardless of reorders

It is, of course, obvious that the exclusion of the Spartans creates an additional “reservoir” of votes for parties to the right of the ND. In the government staff, however, they are not particularly concerned with the reshuffles on the right of the political map, since, as a leading government official puts it on protothema.gr, “the devotees of Kasidiaris were never going to vote for the ND, therefore we did not have to expect anything ». The Spartans appeared particularly low in the recent polls – in the Opinion Poll survey they were measured at 1.3% in the vote estimation – and it remains to be seen whether the remaining voters will prefer abstention or will turn to other alternatives (Hellenic Solution, NIKI, Foni Logic).

On the contrary, the ND is investing in mobilizing its party base, which obviously means aiming to stop the leakage of right-wing voters. It is, well, obvious that the sad images from the Parliament can work favorably for the ND which insists institutionally. In any case, the election campaign is in full swing, Mr. Mitsotakis today will welcome MPs from the Thessaly, her Central and the West Macedonia in the Maximos Palace, he will record their concerns and ask them to be at the forefront of the election campaign.

At the same time, the person in charge of the party’s election campaign in Central Macedonia Nikos Dendias he is expected to hold the first meetings in Thessaloniki with regional governor Apostolos Tzitzikostas and the party’s Steering Committee on Friday.
