“The End of ‘Omega Ouzeri’: The Sukaku Family Closes a 40-Year Circle of Food and Drink on Capitol Hill,” was the content of the headline of the local publication Capitol Hill Seattle Blog, an indication of the acceptance and importance they attached to their business activity Sukaku family the residents of Capitol Hill.

“I want to thank everyone who helped me gain enough experiences for two lifetimes,” Thomas Soukakos had said when announcing his family’s decision to move on.

As mentioned in the relevant publication, “Omega Ouzeri”, a project of the Soukaku family that started in 2015, was part of a general boom presented by the Capitol Hill district, with an increase in construction activity, new buildings and modern businesses. In this context, the expatriate restaurant was housed in one of the new mixed-use constructions that breathed new life into the district, as a continuation of Vios Cafe, owned by the same family, which had previously passed into other hands.

For his part, Thomas Soukakos had experienced the ultimate test, given that his wife, Carol, suddenly passed away, shortly after the birth of their son, Alexandros. He, along with his second wife, Rebecca, raised him, worked hard and felt that the fullness of time had arrived alongside his impending graduation from University.

“Alexander is 22 years old and graduated from Parson’s School of Design,” writes Thomas. “It’s been 22 years since we lost his mom, Carol. Fourteen years of marriage to Rebecca, raising Alexander, working hard, showing love, traveling, celebrating 30 years of El Greco, 2 Vios, Omega. Amazing new friends, lakes of tears, lots of laughs, time to spend more time in Greece, more walks on the beach, more time for sunrises and sunsets, reuniting with family, opening the doors to friends to visit, more sunshine, less rain, new experiences, new chapters,” was his emotional post.
