With a nationwide strike, gathering at the Constitution and then at the Ministry of the Interior, the court officials condemned on Wednesday the government’s bill to “reform” the “judicial charter”, which includes the abolition and merger of a number of judicial services.

As part of the strike mobilization, a gathering was held at the Syntagma, while a pre-gathering in the old Parliament was preceded by judges from Attica and Evia who then marched to the Syntagma, where they met (Thessaloniki, Piraeus, Thebes, Etoloakarnania).

“No to the abolition of services, we want recruitment and salary increases”, they demanded while denouncing the large understaffing: “One employee, three vacancies, the work doesn’t work like this anymore”, they shouted.

Trade union organizations in the field of Justice (Association of Salaried Lawyers, Association of Judicial Employees of Athens, Association of Court Interpreters of Attica, Association of Judicial Employees of Administrative Courts of Athens and Association of Juvenile Court Administrators) participated in the strike meeting, as well as the Self-Employed Lawyers Struggle Committee, demanding the withdrawal of the bill that worsens working conditions even more and is another link in the policy that shapes a Justice even more friendly, efficient and fast for business groups and at the same time more hostile, expensive and inaccessible for workers and the popular strata
