Full flights, increased passenger traffic throughout its network and maintaining a preference for destinations that until recently were considered “outsiders”, are the main characteristics of this year’s Easter passenger traffic for AEGEAN.
The mass exodus of passengers from its two largest bases in Athens and Thessaloniki starts already at the weekend and peaks only in the middle of Holy Week.
On the domestic network from AEGEAN’s base in Athens, flights from April 26th to Holy Saturday record over 80% occupancy, while the return traffic already records over 90% occupancy and peaks on Tuesday, May 7 , where the holiday of the May Day celebration is also transferred.
The top domestic destinations from the Athens base are: Corfu, Ikaria, Sitia, Ioannina, Zakynthos and Kos.
It is indicative that from Good Monday to Good Friday the flights to Ioannina are almost full.
From the company’s second largest base in Thessaloniki, occupancy rates on the domestic network have increased, reaching 90% with return flights already full. The top destinations are: Kos, Samos, Chios, Mytilini, Rhodes, Lemnos.
Also, itineraries such as Athens – Thessaloniki, Athens – Heraklion, Athens – Rhodes and Athens – Chania tend to have high occupancy rates, even though the company takes special care of the movements of special categories of passengers such as students, military, teachers, etc. etc. has significantly increased the number of seats offered by adding additional frequencies.
