A working meeting for the Local Urban Plan of the Municipality of Tripoli was held on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at the Malliaropoulio Theater in Tripoli.

The information event was attended by representatives of the Union of Economic Agencies under the name “Samaras and associates anonymous company of studies and consultants – Roikos consultants engineers anonymous company” which has undertaken, following an open tender, the preparation of the TPS study for the municipality of Tripoli and specifically the Municipal Sections of Levidion, Mantineia, Tripoli, Tegea, Korythion. Let us note at this point that the company Horovatis SA “runs” the TPS.

As mentioned in the presentation with the Local Planning Plan, the pattern of spatial organization and development of our region will be determined, the basic program dimensions, the limits of the planning units and settlements, land uses, building conditions and restrictions, the important planning interventions, transport (for motorized and soft forms of mobility), technical and environmental networks and infrastructures, the prioritization of the road network, the planning of prevention and response to extraordinary conditions and risks, the temporary demarcation of watercourses within the areas to be urbanized and the geological suitability for construction in the project area. In addition, the TPS will include a special chapter on measures to deal with climate change.

The goal is for the TPS under preparation to respond to the real conditions, needs and development potential of our Municipality, with the ultimate goal of institutionalizing the most sustainable proposal for spatial organization while simultaneously giving impetus to the development trajectory of the Municipality of Tripoli.

The event started with the reading of the greeting of the Deputy Minister of Environment and Energy Mr. N. Tagaras who, while his presence at the event was scheduled, failed to attend.

As noted, with the initiatives of the Ministry of Environment and Energy, the lack of defined land uses and the impossibility of implementing useful urban planning measures-incentives for the protection of the environment are addressed, the rational organization of the space is promoted and the anarchic or even arbitrary construction and the problem of of illegally sited activities.

In this context, an emblematic reform of historical importance is implemented, the “KONSTANTINOS DOXIADIS” program for the financing of urban studies of major importance, such as Local Urban Plans.

The mayor of Tripoli Mr. Gioumis Kostas in his introductory presentation he spoke about the opening session of the work of the Local Town Planning Plan of Tripoli known as TPS, pointing out that it is an evolution of the old General Town Planning Plan of the well-known GIS and stressed that the Municipality of Tripoli will be creatively present throughout the record shop.

Mr. Tzioumis in his in-depth speech gave the proposals of the municipal authority for the implementation of the TPS and analyzed the proposals of the municipal authority and stated that Tripoli must have a civil airport.

As he mentioned, the design of new organized receptors for manufacturing and business activities should be the first central pillar of the TPS.

The increase in tourism activity will constitute the second pillar, while the third pillar will concern the primary sector.

The two major infrastructures of the agricultural sector, the irrigation system of Kandila and the irrigation system of Taka with a total budget exceeding 100 million euros should be utilized to the maximum.

The fourth pillar will concern residential organization, with the institutionalization of land uses in the entire area of the Municipality, it will constitute the central regulation of the TPS.

The fifth pillar will concern sinkholes and the main streams leading to them. The sixth pillar will concern roads and transport.

He recently left the exhibition of Tegea and the sports facilities of the city which can be the axis of extroversion.

The Tegea exhibition is organized the week of August 15th at the same time as the trade fair. In 1992 Vassilis Maggioris as Minister of Industry had characterized it as a Regional Exhibition with a status equivalent to today’s Helexpo. Unfortunately, the reaction of Thessaloniki led to the withdrawal of the decision. The reorganization of the exhibition on a modern basis, its institutionalization in a space that will allow its development with permanent installations and its spatial support will be requested by the scholars.

Afterwards, Mr. Dimitris Bokolas chairperson of the monitoring committee, Mrs Alexandra Papadima general study group coordinator, mrs Dafni Manousaridis and finally Mr. Lymberakis who made a more extensive presentation of the goals that must be set in the Local Urban Planning Plan of the municipality of Tripoli under preparation, stressing that this must be compatible with the above plan.

Our direction is from the National Spatial Planning and the Regional Spatial Planning.

After the presentations, the audience’s presentations-questions were made, with the deputy regional governor, Mr. Christos Lambropoulos, analyzing the proposals of the regional authority for the project of the Tegea bypass, for the arrival of businesses with the extension of the VIPE, for the utilization of the old Tripoli Psychiatric Hospital and the RES installation without affecting the environment.

Other questions had to do with Tripoli airport, tourism development, sinkholes and other issues related to TPS.
