Greece and the United Kingdom are marching together, in good cooperation, both for the achievement of the green transition and for the development – planning – of radical but also realistic policies, said the Minister of Shipping Christos Stylianidis.
Mr. Stylianidis spoke at an event organized by the Hellenic-British Chamber, in honor of the Greek Shipping Cooperation Committee.

“Today we are here to honor the Hellenic Committee for Maritime Cooperation. The well-known “Greek Shipping Cooperation Committee”, which has been operating since 1935 at the initiative of the Greek shipping community in London, which is, through its Bureau, a dynamic voice of the Greek fleet outside Greece”, said Mr. Stylianidis.

Stylianidis: “The first priority is the safety of coastal transport”
The minister also pointed out that the Greek Government fully shares the need to achieve environmental neutrality of shipping activities by 2050 and that the sustainable development of the maritime transport sector and the protection of the environment are a priority.
Mr. Stylianidis emphasized that the promotion of the sustainable “blue economy” is high on the government’s agenda while he underlined the need for lifelong education and the continuous upgrading of the skills of the human capital, of seafarers, so that they can keep up with the continuous technological changes and the modern requirements of the industry, as they are a prerequisite for the safe and environmentally friendly operation of ships.
