--

A meeting on the problems they face eight months after the floods of last September was held this afternoon at the Labor Center of Larissa by the committees of the flood-affected districts of P.E. Larisa.

“Let the situation remain stagnant and the problems remain”, emphasized the president of EKL, Mr. Yannis Skokasadding that “substantial solutions have not been given despite what we heard from the prime minister in Thessaly, at the same time that a few days ago our hearts were trembling in Larissa and in Thessaly due to the rains that fell”.

THE Litsa Gounarifrom the Committee of Flood Victims of Agios Thomas and Philippoupolis, noted that “we have very big problems eight months after the floods and disasters, our fellow citizens have not received money while they are entitled to compensation and at the same time other problems are added such as ENFIA”.

Finally o Agis Trigazi from the New Smyrna Flood Victims Committee emphasized that “a 20% have not received compensation for their flooded ground floors in the area and they did not even give this meager money, the average of which is €3000, for the damages that have been done”.

“At this moment, ENFIA came to all the flood victims and from the meetings we had with AADE and the agencies they said that only the ‘red’ and ‘yellow’ houses will be exempted, most of which in Larissa have been classified as ‘green’.

The requests of the flood victims also concern:

  • 100% damage compensation to all affected.
  • Replacement of lost income.
  • Restoration and anti-flood protection projects throughout Thessaly.
