The Lyceum of Greek Girls of Larisa celebrated Easter by carrying out two educational programs entitled: “It’s here, it’s here the Lilac with the red eggs”held on Saturday, April 20, 2024. Elementary school students, aged 6-12 years spent creative time in the welcoming, specially designed room “Zina Patera” of the Lyceum of Greek Girls and with basic tools the presentation of supervisory material, activities, constructions, dialogue, they discovered in an experiential way aspects of the festival of holidays, Lambri.

Easter at the “Lykeion of Greek Girls” means a return to tradition. The children who participated in the program came into contact with the Easter customs of our country, which were presented by the members of the Board of Directors of LtE Larisa, Mrs. Aglaia Koutroulis, who also had the general supervision, Mrs. Fani Bliona, Mrs. Georgia Karagianni, Ms. Ourania Karamanoli. Vasiliki Papagianni, Panagiota Sourla, Anna Tsiara, Maria Karatza, Artemis Hatzipouliou, Maria Papapouliou were also valuable helpers. From the 1st grade to the 6th grade, the young and old students watched the revival of the “Lazarines” custom, decorated the basket for Lazarus, made with their own hands the most famous festive bread in Greece, the tsoureki , the lazarakis, the delicious Easter cookies and of course, after hearing the symbolism of the red eggs, they painted them already.

Throughout the program, the children had the constant guidance and encouragement of the members from the High School departments, the young teachers, Mrs. Maria Doxopoulou, Aliki Tsimpoli, Eleni Hatziefstathiadi, Christina Hatziefstathiadi, Vassilenia Dakou, Dimitra Anastasiou and they made beautiful Easter baskets. constructions.

The specific experiential actions became the occasion for an authentic meeting of the children’s world with our cultural heritage and created the context in which the children expressed new feelings, practiced critical thinking, observation as well as communication and cooperation. In the end, feelings of love for Greek traditional customs were cultivated in the participants and the artistic creation and self-expression of young and old was strengthened. Happy Easter everyone!
