French anti-terrorist authorities are investigating the case of a 16-year-old who had declared that he wants to “die as a martyr” during the Olympic Games that will begin in July in Paris.

The young man was arrested on Tuesday (23/4), BFMTV reported, adding that an investigation by the French anti-terrorist agency began on Wednesday.

Information cited by the French network states that the 16-year-old had written on Telegram that he wanted to die as a martyr, since he would have built an explosive belt. The young man also wrote that he wants to obtain the materials in order to die “as a martyr in the name of the Islamic caliphate”.

After an intervention by the police, he was arrested at the residence in Savoie. Manuscripts were found in his house that show his allegiance to the Islamic State (Daesh)while material of this type was also found on his mobile phone.

He told the police that he planned to do something in Paris during the Games.
