Students of the 3rd grade of Thermis High School were met today, Wednesday, April 24, by the Mayor of Mytilini, Panagiotis Christofas, who were at his office accompanied by two teachers as part of the “Learning for Democracy” action of the Social and Political Education course.
During the meeting, Mr. Christofas spoke to the children about the role of the Mayor and the Municipal Council, about the importance of dialogue, consultation and cooperation and cited examples that outline the responsibilities of the Municipality and how important the influence of self-government is in the everyday lives of citizens. In addition, the Mayor presented to the students some of the projects planned by the Municipal Authority, making special reference to interventions in their area, while he also listened and recorded the requests for their school and the villages in which they live.
Before the meeting with the Mayor, the children and teachers had the opportunity to discuss the operation of the Municipality of Mytilini with the Deputy Mayor of Administrative Services, Citizen Services and Civil Protection Nikos Karasavvas.
