Parliament: Velopoulos’ bitter fight with the father of the deputy Floros -…

--

A feud that has been going on for several years seems to be the cause of the unprecedented beating incident in the Parliament, with the father of the MP Konstantinos Floros to have a dispute with Kyriakos Velopoulosthe president of the Hellenic Solution.

In particular, Mr Efstathios Floros, father of the independent MP, former Spartan Konstantinos Floros, has sued Kyriakos Velopoulos for defamation through a social media account, with inappropriate and sexist characterizations, according to the relevant case file. In fact, as Efstathios Floros claims, Kyriakos Velopoulos is behind the specific account, something, of course, that the president of the Hellenic Solution denies.

Constantinos Floros’ father, Efstathios Floros

It should be emphasized that the father of the independent MP was in 2019 a candidate of the Hellenic Solution. He called for a congress for the party, but in 2022 he broke with Kyriakos Velopoulos, as a result of which he left and created the “Hellenic Patriotic Solution”. That’s when the legal disputes started, with Efstathios Floros talking about opaque procedures.

Specifically, claims that he was expelled from the Greek Solution, despite the fact that he was one of the founding members. Also, according to the relevant reports, well-known internet trolls, under the orders of Velopoulos, attacked him with unkind characterizations. The case file mentions posts on social media that touched on his sexual status, said that his son is illegitimate and touched on his son-in-law and daughter.

How the unprecedented incident in Parliament began

It should be noted that immediately before the fight between Floros and Grammenos, there was a debate in the Parliament about the lifting of the immunity of Kyriakos Velopoulos for the lawsuit for defamation filed by Efstathios Floros

Finally, the Plenary of the Parliament, with 258 votes “FOR”, 8 “NO” and 3 “present” the lifting of the immunity of the president of the Hellenic Solution.

It is noted that the Ethics Committee had recommended in favor of lifting his immunity by a majority with all parties in favor except the KKE who declared “present”, while the same had been requested by Mr. Velopoulos himself.

The parliamentary representative of the Hellenic Solution Konstantinos Chitas, who requested and took the floor in the Parliament, emphasized that “although it is a case which does not concern Mr. Velopoulos at all, he chose to be judged before his natural judge”.

“Although it is coming before the election and it is obviously a carbine case of carbine political expediency, nevertheless our president will be in front of his natural judge to prove that he is not an elephant”, added Mr. Chitas.

Reacting to Mr. Chita’s position, the independent MP Konstantinos Floros and son of the plaintiff asked to take the floor in the Plenaryhowever the Regulation did not allow it and it was not given to him.

After an intense dialogue that they had in the room o Konstantinos Floros and the Hellenic Solution MP Vassilis Grammenos and exchange of insults and foul language, the fight continued outside. There Floros grabbed Grammenos by the neck, put a headlock on him and punched him.

Grammenos fell down, and the guard immobilized Floros, who was removed through the intercom, who continued to curse the other deputy.

The member of the Hellenic Solution was then hurriedly taken to the Parliament’s infirmary, in order to provide him with first aid. Konstantinos Floros was arrested and is about to be brought to the GADA with the procedure of self-incrimination, Konstantinos Tasoulas, Mr. Floros has violated article 157 of the Criminal Code according to which it is a felony to commit violence against a member of parliament in the performance of his duties.
