Konstantinos Floros was arrested – He is being taken to GADA

Konstantinos Floros was arrested after the violent episode in the Parliament and is being taken to GADA with a police escort.

The police proceeded to arrest the independent member of parliament (former member of the Spartans), after the attack he carried out against the member of Hellenic Solution, Vasilis Grammenou.

Konstantinos Floros was arrested under article 157 of the new Criminal Code.

The timeline of the episode

The serious incident with fists and physical violence took place outside the Plenary Chamber of the Parliament on Wednesday morning (24/4) between the independent MP (former of the Spartans) Konstantinos Floros and to the Hellenic Solution MP Basil Grammeno.

In fact, obscene expressions were heard and according to information, Floros punched Grammenos, while he allegedly also gave him a zitsu type grip and threw him to the ground.

In front of the incident, among others, was ND MP Katerina Monogyou, who urged Mr. Grammenos to get up from the ground. The member of the Hellenic Solution was transferred immediately afterwards to the Parliament’s clinic.

Konstantinos Floros claimed that he reacted this way because Mr. Grammenos cursed his family and threatened him with prison.

Everything happened in the debate on the lifting of Mr. Velopoulos’s immunity, whose case concerned defamation through a false account on a social network that had been submitted by an officer e.a. of the Navy.

It is noted that Mr. Grammenos, according to the same information, had filed a lawsuit against Mr. Floros’ father for defamation through the press and insult.

The guard of the Parliament was immediately mobilized with the police trying to calm the spirits.

Expulsion of Floros from the proceedings of the Parliament

The president of the Parliament Konstantinos Tasoulas characterized this behavior as “brutal” and ordered Mr. Floros to be removed by the guard and suspended for 15 days from all parliamentary proceedings, in accordance with the Parliament’s regulations.

Obviously, Mr. Tasoulas added, Mr. Floros will also be referred to the Ethics Committee of the Parliament. In fact, addressing the president of Hellenic Solution, K. Velopoulos, who had risen to the podium, Mr. Tasoulas said: “Mr. President, I apologize as the president of the Parliament for this incident. I feel like it’s about me too. It happened a while ago here, outside the plenary. We will make sure that the consequences of this act are as severe as possible”, stressed Mr. Tasoulas.

Commenting on the episode, Mr. Velopoulos considered it “unthinkable, for politicians to behave violently like sheep-like wolves. Everyone can find as many excuses as they want […] Do you know what is the difference between humans and other animals? Animals may react if you tease them. But man differs in mind, judgment and logic, which some people do not have here, unfortunately”.

The reaction of the “Hellenic Solution”

“For some time now, there has been circulating on all the sites an imaginary dialogue between the MP of the Hellenic Solution, Vassilis Grammenos and the MP of the Spartans, Konstantinos Floros. The dialogue in question was given by the accused himself – now for a felony – but also by some “well-wishers”, who are trying to involve the Hellenic Solution, inventing him as a line of defense”, the Hellenic Solution emphasizes in a statement.

At the same time, the press office of the party points out, “We call on all the media to refrain from reproducing it, otherwise we will be forced to go to court.”
