The “Easter Basket” comes into effect in supermarkets from today, which will last until on Holy Saturday, May 4, at the same time that accuracy in food continues to squeeze consumer disposable income.
The measure is implemented for the second consecutive year, operating in addition to the “Household Basket”, in order to contain the prices of products with increased seasonal demand. In this, they join 4 food categories which fill the Easter table of consumers: lamb, goat, bun, Easter chocolate eggs and similar products.
“In the basic products, such as the Easter bun, the lamb and other Easter products, it seems that the prices will be the same and in some cases will be even lower than last year Easter” noted about “basket” the Minister of Development, Kostas Skrekas, speaking on Tuesday in the First Program. Regarding the price of the lamb, Mr. Skrekas has pointed out that the goal is to sell 10 euros per kilogram and below.
At the same time, in a survey he carried out the IELKA on spending and consumer habits this Easter, it is estimated that on average, this year’s expenditure per household will amount to 190 euros of which 120 euros for groceries and 70 euros for other items, such as gifts. From his side, the INCA calculated that the Easter table (on the night of the Resurrection and on the day of Easter) for 6 to 8 people, will cost this year 355.88 euros, increased by 6% compared to last year.
It is recalled that for the Easter shopping of consumers and especially godparents in their baptistries, it has come into force from Monday, the “Basket of the Godfathers” in toy stores with a total of 11 businesses have by now posted their lists on the e-katanalotis platform. At the same time, on Thursday, April 25, the festive hours of the shops, which will also be open next Sunday.
