An. Vafiadis: “Governments are afraid to give power to the Chambers”

--

The Chambers of Rhodope participated in the Balkan Business Forum of Adrianople, following a relevant invitation from the Chamber of Commerce & Industry of Adrianople, which organized the event, in the presence of Chambers from Greece, Bulgaria, Serbia, Romania, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Albania, Croatia.

The atmosphere was conveyed through radio Chronos 87.5fm by the representative of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Rodopi, Anestis Vafiadis. “They presented us with the development model that the Prefecture of Adrianople will follow”, he noted, while describing the Chambers in Turkey as “small Ministries”, since with the help and funding of the Turkish government they have decisive responsibilities and not, as in Greece, merely an advisory and supportive role . He also spoke about the Turkish government’s decisions to support cross-border areas, such as the Province of Edirne, with incentives to create businesses and hire workers. This time in the plans of the Chamber of Commerce & Industry of Adrianople is the creation of three new industrial zones in the areas of Adrianople, Makras Gephyra and Kessani.

That is why he asked the Greek government, on the one hand, to provide substantial incentives for the establishment and operation of businesses in critical areas, and on the other hand, to allow the Chambers to have a more decisive role in Greek business. “Governments are afraid to give power to the Chambers,” he said characteristically.

In the context of his presence in Turkey, Anestis Vafiadis and other participants had the opportunity to meet with the Greek consul in Adrianople in his office. Issues of mainly touristic and economic interest were discussed there. Finally, as it became known, an upgrade to a general consulate from a simple consulate is imminent, which will strengthen it with staff and responsibilities.
