In expansion trajectory of his facilities it has entered for good University of Macedonia in Thessaloniki. In an open event organized today it was announced that the PAMAK has entered the market in order to find and buy places who they will house students, administrative and teaching staffin different areas of the city.

The purpose of the event addressed to, among others, Real Estate representatives and other interested parties was that PAMAK is looking for buildings to house some of its services, with several of the brokers having already expressed interest in making available facilities they have in their portfolio.

THE Vice Chancellor of Economic Affairs and Infrastructure, Ioannis Tabakoudispresented all the details concerning the conditions of the buildings which PAMAK is looking for (location, square meters and secured the necessary certificates), while detailed reference was made to the money that can be allocated for the purchase of the facilities. The amount secured by the Public Investment Program amounts to 14,740,880 euros. It was emphasized, moreover, that this money strictly concerns the purchase of building facilities and not plots of land, while, once the buildings are found, the University’s administration will look for funding again to equip them.

“We are trying to improve the existing building, but we want to go somewhere much better,” Mr. Tabakoudis said during the presentation.

“We want to succeed in obtaining the buildings that we so much request, so as to strengthen the extrovert strategy of our University”, he explained and then went into details regarding the requirements of PAMAK in relation to the buildings that are being sought.

PAMAK needs approximately 6,100 gross square meters in order to house the Department of Music Science and Art (MET), other Independent Units of the university, ELKE (Special Research Funds Account) and some of its Administrative Services.

The MET needs a building with an area of 2,850 sq.m. in order to transfer all the functions of the department there, the Independent Units of PAMAK need 757 sq.m., the ELKE 1,055 sq.m. and the Administrative Services 1,417 sq.m.

However, the vice-rector of Economic Affairs and Infrastructure clarified that the above departments and services can move to more than 4 different buildings, in different areas of Thessaloniki.

“The ideal would be for everything to go in one building, but, realistically, we are looking for at least four buildings to install our departments and services” said Mr. Tabakoudis specifically and clarified that, in this regard, there is the flexibility “the Independents Units or the ELKE to break into two different buildings”. The areas in which the building or buildings are sought are spread over five different municipalities of Thessaloniki, namely the central municipality, the municipality of Kalamaria, the municipality of Pylaia – Hortiatis, the municipality of Thermi and also in the Municipal Unit of Agios Pavlos of the municipality of Neapolis – Sykeon.

Basic conditions for the people of PAMAK are that the above buildings have been erected after 1985 and have an Energy Performance Certificate (PEA), an active Electronic Building Identity, while for MET facilities the importance of the building should be Σ3 or higher, depending on the earthquake regulation.

The rest can also be housed in buildings of importance Σ2, depending on the Anti-Seismic Regulation with which they have been erected.

For the people of PAMAK, the existence of parking lots and public transport stops is desirable but not necessary.

In addition, it has not been set as a condition that the facilities to be purchased be vacant on the day of the purchase, while during the event it was clarified that, if the facilities are acquired and eventually there is money left over from the nearly 15 million euros allocated to PAMAK by the Public Investment Program, then these will be returned back to the Program fund.
