Based on the concerns, fears and concerns of parents, teachers and students regarding school bullying, the Cultural Movement of N. Rodopi, in collaboration with the Rodopi PE Education Association “The Three Hierarchs” organized an event on “Intra-school violence, Juvenile Violence, Prevention-Response”, which was framed by speakers who analyzed this serious issue, each speaking according to their subject.
The secretary of the Cultural Movement Dimitra Antoniou informed that the speakers at the event were: Stefanos Makrygiannis – president of the Association of Primary Education Teachers of Rodopi, Athanasios Karaphyllis – president of the Department of Primary Education of Democritus University of Thrace, Eva Vlisidou – president of the Federation of Parents of Eastern Macedonia & Thrace, Spyros Voltsis – psychologist at the “Orfeas” Rehab Center, Gerasimos Adamakopoulos – lawyer.
The positions of the speakers
Stefanos Makrygiannis analyzed that this is an issue that “plays” a lot these days throughout society and emphasized that violence is a more comprehensive social issue that must be addressed both inside and outside schools, pointing out that “it cannot to solve an issue in schools when it plagues the whole society in all aspects of social life”.
Athanasios Karafillis in his introduction analyzed the issue of intra-school violence from a pedagogical point of view to highlight how this issue can be solved even before its creation.
Eva Vlisidou claimed that the federation considers that the measures issued by the Ministry of Education regarding dealing with intra-school violence are intended to act as a fire-fighting and not preventive measure. As the federation believes, preventive measures will provide the real solution to the phenomenon of school bullying.
The psychologist Spyros Voltsis stated that the prevention center is in daily contact with the schools and teachers of the city, proposing ways to deal with and solutions to the incidents that arise.
Gerasimos Adamakopoulos explained that this is a fairly hot and topical issue in view of the legislative changes that have taken place. “It is an issue that concerns the future of our society, it concerns the minors of our society and it is an issue that, due to its complexity, we should look at it very carefully and deal with it seriously,” he noted.
