The Federation of Judicial Officers emphasizes that the bill, which is expected to be tabled in the Parliament, does not address any of the perennial problems of the judicial services, such as the tragic understaffing, the significant deficiencies in infrastructure, the low salaries of the judicial officers, each kinds of obstacles to citizens’ access to justice.
“On the contrary, the bill is a reactionary piece, part of a wider puzzle (which is being completed piece by piece), against the needs of the social majority and will further harm the rights of judicial officers as well as those “dealing” with Justice”, as stated in announcement of the Federation.
ADEDY also supports the strike of judicial officers, as does the Prefectural Department locally. “Under the pretext of speeding up the administration of justice and saving resources, it essentially turns citizens’ access to justice from a legal good into an expensive sport, since, by abolishing judicial services, it makes it mandatory for the citizen to travel outside his place of residence in order to to go to court. At the same time, it obliges the judicial employees to move to another city, beyond the one in which they and their families live, burdening their already difficult financial situation after a ten-year cut in their salaries”, emphasizes the NT. of ADEDY.
