“On June 9 we will say a big yes to progress and a big no to those who want to constantly take us back and make us lose more years of our lives. On June 9, we are voting for stability and Kyriakos Mitsotakis.” This was emphasized, among others, by the Minister of Social Cohesion and Family, Sofia Zaharaki, from Patras.

Speaking tonight at an event organized in a central hotel of Patras, by the Steering Committee of the Electoral District of Achaia of the Northern Region, in collaboration with the Women’s Union of the Achaean capital, Ms. Zaharaki added that, “on June 9 we will go to vote, so that we do not let the country is a blessing to all those who have always loved the mess, to all those who played with the institutions when they held referendums, putting one family member against the other, even making constitutional deviations and at the same time they are the same, who at any time they say that the only goal is for Kyriakos Mitsotakis to fall.”

“So this cannot be the political stake, Sofia Zaharaki continued, because, as she noted, “a political stake is a healthy exchange of different opinions, it is a parliamentary control, which we are called to and we really want to answer, but also a healthy debate and dialogue about the future we want”.

During her speech, Sofia Zaharaki also referred to the initiatives that have been taken to deal with incidents of domestic violence.

In particular, he emphasized that “as far as incidents of domestic violence are concerned, there is the part of the network, which the Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family has throughout Greece, since beyond the 15900 line, where any incident can be reported and there can be communication with a social worker, psychologist and specialist scientists, there are 44 counseling centers and 20 hostels”.

“These hostels”, he continued, “can accommodate a woman with her child, in the event that there is domestic violence and the need to finally find this woman in our own protection grid”.

He also mentioned that “recently we also faced the issue of immediate reaction and found a solution, in partnership with the Ministries of Citizen Protection and Justice, so that there is an immediate accommodation hostel for one woman”.

At the same time, he said that “at the moment there are 18 domestic violence centers that the Ministry of Citizen Protection has and they are expanding with the recent initiative of the minister, Michalis Chrysochoidis”.

“In these centers,” he added, “there are social workers and psychologists, who help with the psychosocial approach, but there are also lawyers, who give their assistance free of charge, so that any woman can have this kind of support”.

“The ND government,” he continued, “was the one that added the minimum guaranteed income so that the women in the hostel could receive it and expanded the framework of support, through professional rehabilitation, with the help of specialists programs of DYPA”.

Furthermore, Sofia Zaharaki stated that “there is in force, together with the other ministries, a special law-making committee, which, in addition to the tightening of the criminal code for domestic violence, is also looking at the harmonization of all reaction protocols, in any context, that is, either the Police, or the Justice, or our ministry, so that they have the same use, definitions, terms and reaction”.

At the same time, the Minister of Social Cohesion and Family underlined that “the ND, with the law 5090 of 2024, brought very substantial reforms in the area of domestic violence, so that it responds to the current social conditions, but also to the imperative protection of the institution of the family , of the immaturity of the victims and especially of the women”.
