In participation in the May Day strike, as well as in the strike meeting of that day at 10.30 am, the Constitution calls the Press and Paper Syndicate, emphasizing: “May 1st is not a holiday, it’s a strike! We are striking on May 1, 2024 for SSE with wage increases.”

In his announcement, he also notes, among other things: “No retreat in the effort of employers, the government, the European Union to impose the abolition of the 5-day Monday – Friday. We do not accept any change of schedule, we contact and inform our Union of any attempt by employers to impose Monday-Saturday work”.

Finally, the Union points out that “for the working class all over the world, May Day is the tribute of the irreconcilable class struggle. The ND government’s attempt to abolish the May Day strike based on the SYRIZA law and turn it into a public holiday will not pass,” while underlining that it continues even more decisively for:

  • The demand for better working and living conditions, for SSE with increases in wages and expansion of rights.
  • The immediate repeal of the anti-labor laws that crush the 8-hour shift and criminalize trade union action, prohibit the right to strike. We fight for 7 hours – 5 days – 35 hours Monday – Friday, as the development of science and technology allows.
  • Immediate measures against accuracy.
  • Immediate measures for the health and safety of workers at work.
  • Disengagement from imperialist designs and war conflicts.
  • Solidarity with the people of Palestine, in the just and cruel struggle they are fighting against the murderous state of Israel, which is slaughtering them on the backs of NATO and the EU.
