Fire broke out earlier on the island of Paros, in the area of Pyrgaki of Parikia, in a residential area. Due to the winds, the fire quickly grew in size and for this reason a message was sent from 112 for people to move away and head for the beach. Later in the afternoon, the picture from the fire front was clearly improved.
It is noted that the 112 message said: “If you are in the area of Pyrgaki Parikia, move away towards Paralia Parikia. Forest fire in your area. Follow the authorities’ instructions.”
19 firefighters rushed to the spot, with six vehicles, while a helicopter was also raised for airdrops.
